    Pain Management in the Critically Ill

    OBJECTIVES

    •Describe the different methods to monitor pain control in patients who are able to communicate verbally and also patients who are unable to communicate. •Differentiate between multiple opioid and other intravenous medication regimens and how they affect respiratory status. •Examine a patient’s medication regimen and implement possible changes to improve pain control and reduce opioid consumption using adjunctive therapies.
